はらぺこ杯

皆さま、こんにちは！KDSではいよいよ夏の合宿が迫ってきています✨夏合宿の様子もブログでお届けしますので、楽しみに待っていてくださいね！今回は、はらぺこ杯について池田悠依さんに執筆していただきました。オンライン大会ならではの経験も書いてくださりましたので、是非最後までご覧ください！

1.自己紹介

私は日本生まれですが小学校～中学校の頃にアメリカに滞在しており、高校のタイミングで帰国しました。アメリカの高校に１年間だけ通っていた頃に準備型のディベートを経験していたのですが、帰国後は高校にディベート部がなかったため特に即興型は大学に上がるまで限られた回数しか経験していませんでした。そのため、大学に上がって本格的にディベートを始めてからは新たに学び身につけなければいけないことばかりで、常に奮闘中です。

2.はらぺこ杯

今回は、NUDS（名古屋大学）3年生の片岡莉菜さんとjoint で参加させていただき、結果は Rookie チームの中で3位となりました。また、Rookie Best Speaker 及び Open 2nd Best Speaker のスピーカー賞もいただきました。

はらぺこ杯はオンライン実施のルーキー大会で、ブレイク制度もないためとても気楽に参加できる大会でした。「はらぺこ」の名に因んで全てのモーションが食べ物関連というのも面白く、KDSに入会してから初めての大会で緊張していた私でも楽しんで各ラウンドに参加することができました。

私は初大会だったのですが、independent speaker としての申請を出した際に決まったペアの莉菜さんがレジやチーム名の決定などを進めてくださったので、とてもスムーズに参加できました、なお、チーム名は食べ物関連という大会のテーマにつながるよう、「Rice to Meet You」にしてみました。少し遊び心があり、はらぺこ杯にぴったりの名前でとても気に入っています。

練習はオンラインで1回しか行えず、大会もオンラインだったため莉菜さんには一度も対面でお会いできていないのですが、ラインを駆使してプレパ中のメモを残すなど、私たちなりの工夫をしながらラウンドを重ねるごとに段々チームワークが上手くなっていくという体験がとても楽しく、短期間ではありましたが仲が深まったと感じます。

モーションは以下の4つでした。

1.This House opposes the rapid expansion of fast food chains in developing countries.

Info: Currently, there is a trend of cafes occasionally going viral in SNS, and the competition between cafes to maintain their popularity is fierce. Cafe Harapeko is a stylish and cozy café known for its specialty coffee and creative sweets. It offers spacious seating and free Wi-fi, and many regular customers work on their tasks, browse books, or linger with friends. Recently, Cafe Harapeko got viral through Instagram, and its waiting line is getting longer and longer.

2.TH, as Cafe Harapeko, would focus on quick service (having time limits to seats, focusing on takeouts) rather than maintaining its current style (letting customers linger)

Info: World X is an imaginary world where people do not feel the sense of taste. In this world, eating foods are considered as one sort of biological obligation, which is required to maintain life. People don’t feel delight through eating, and it doesn’t have social meaning such as dinner meeting（会食）. However, nutritions are still essential for the human body and they eat in order to gain them. Food production companies focus on development in terms of nutrition and prices, and consumers seek for the same factors. 

3.THP world X as opposed to the status quo.

Info：You are an average 20 year old sophomore in university living independent from your parents. Your hobby is cooking and you are objectively really good at cooking. You have a partner who you started to date with this winter and have been maintaining good relationships until today. Your partner is also 20 years old and belongs to the same college as you. Your partner’s birthday is on 6/22 and you are thinking about doing something special for your partner on that day. There are two plans you came up with. 

4. TH as you would take plan A over plan B.

A：Reserve a restaurant with beautiful scenery 

B：Invite your partner to your house and cook your partner’s favorite dish by yourself

最初のモーションを除くと information スライドの情報量が多く、初心者向けのシンプルなモーションでありながらもしっかりと面白みがあっていずれのラウンドも非常に楽しかったです。特に、2 のカフェの運営を想定したものや 4 のリアルなシチュエーションを連想させるモーションが普段の練習や他の大会では中々触れられないと思い、この大会ならではの魅力を感じました。最終的な勝敗としては2勝2敗だったため、是非同じモーションでもう一度ラウンドをしてみたいと思いました。

3.最後の一言

ディベートに関してはまだまだ慣れないことや改善しなければならないことが沢山あるので悔しい思いをすることも多いですが、大会を通してペアの方との連携が上手になっていく経験やジャッジからのフィードバックで伝えられたことが実践できたときの達成感はディベートならではだと感じています。

ペアの莉菜さんや運営の方々のおかげでとても楽しい初大会となり、ディベートの魅力を沢山実感することができました。今後も頑張っていきたいです！
